Lost
My papers should have arrived today from UPS. My two paper swatches samples from French came in but the paper itself did not. I called UPS at 5:30 to ask about my package and the guy GUARANTEED it would be there by the end of the day (7pm). My package did not come. At 8pm I called again and the man said it appeared that the package has been lost since March 27th and I should call the seller. Not sure why the other man couldn't have told me that my package was lost at 5:30 so I could have called French who is open until 6. I wanted to have some text blocks shown so I could start considering the bindings and packaging too..... Well I just don't know. I will find out after class on Tuesday I guess!
As for posters and print? I'm all set to try to print the one poster I think is print ready just to see how it come out and what I should do to it and the others before I go through fighting with it, as it takes hours to get the files to save and move the way I want them to due to their gigantic size. I think that's a good place to start and I will start right after class Tuesday after I call French with John's help. This is my alternate game plan since my paper is 'lost'.

Paper & Print
A few days ago, I ordered 100 sheets of text weight tabloid extra paper in two different colors from French paper. I am praying that it they will be like the paper I imagined using as I dont have swatch books to order from... I did successfully have some sent to me now, before they were for a fee, this time they were free so I went for it!
In the mean time I am editing my scans and would like to start printing (after class if possible or arrange a time that would be suitable to at least test the quality of the print and the paper its printed on! Also of course to really SEE the scale at which I'm envisioning my work. It will be nice to actually see.

New Word Collages, Scans, & Postcard.
I, your, we collages. I decided I was unhappy with my previous collages with the exaggerated larger type so I made the new ones more consistent in size and quality of stroke. I also chose to do this to achieve the blending of colors more and also to embrace the lack of space covered as well, this goes along with my ideas of memory being used for planning the future not as libraries of the past so white space signifies sections of less important information to the future.... I have scanned this is as 8x10.66666 at 1,600dpi which I will be preparing for print within the next week! (I hope!) at least a single prototype.
I have also been thinking about our post card for our show... This is the direction I'm thinking... It connects to print, design, conjuring ideas, music, rhythm, and I think it describes our journey through seminar slow but then work began popping up exponentially an with more fervor than previous. :) subconsciousxxx.tumblr.com/image/45738693702

The books have begun.
Over the last two days I finally started thinking spatially. I decided 4x3 feet would be a really good size for my full sized posters. That size boils down to 6 4x6 accordions that will be the series.
I folded an accordion to scale and with paper I'm fairly certain will be the thickness of the poster paper... I did this to determine the thickness of the text blocks I need to make so that they match.
This text block you see here is experimentation for my book 'I___' I would like to use thicker pages and maybe sections of three folios instead of four and only three sections instead of four...
I obviously need to practice laying the type straight and I'd also like to improve the work by adding a loose grid to the pages.... And printing the transfers with wax paper in between to prevent the transfers from rubbing in the opposite pages once closed. :D

Gathering New Data & Overview
My Concept:
Everyday one accumulates experiences that are stored as memories. The purpose of humans having memory is to learn and to plan, to let one better predict how future events will unfold in their personal narratives. Many people choose to obsess in their pasts, use their memory to relive events rather than imagine future ones. Nostalgia is a negative use of memory where dreams are positive. It is important that one realizes their accumulation of memory is for use in life's bigger picture and that it is not meant to be dissected and replayed bit by bit.
My Execution:
A series of 8 3inx3in 6 panel accordian booklets (bit by bit) that the reader realizes come together to create 1 18x24in poster. (The bigger picture)
The material in the posters will include data from my personal diary entries from age 15-17.
- ie: words that come after I, You/Her/His, My, We/Our... (words that deal with ownership much like how negatively people try to own their memories for the sake of the past, the sake of reliving their best, or bleakest moments)
The words will be written in pastel and become mostly illegible through overlapping and rewriting, mistakes, error (memories are ridden with error and are re-written each time they are recalled, events overlap each other and they get mixed up, sometimes they are simply conjured, this execution of written data pulled will exemplify this.)
My Goal:
I want the reader engaged with my project to be presented with small diary sized books, volumes (set of 8) to feel like they are being allowed to read into a private book... memories of a stranger. I want the experience to be delightfully voyeuristic causing the reader to open the books one by one to their full length realizing the books are accordians, then realizing that they fit together. Ultimately I want the readers to realize that the words they tried so hard to read make up a final bigger picture which in its entirety is more interesting than the words themselves signifying that what your memories create is a brighter future for you, and even the most harmful, hurtful, terrible words the picture holds it still can take you somewhere positive. I want the reader to realize that to dwell in the past is to forget the future, that they should dream instead of recall, turn negatives to positives. I want the realization to be a process, but the message to be simple and easily remembered.
