Installing the show, Saturday
Today was the first day of setup for the design show. I did most of the work I needed to get done including mounting my prints onto presentation board & trimming them out, painting the pedestal white, hanging the prints and setting up the iMac. I still have to figure out what to do with the Wiimote charging dock, but it's a relief to have most of the work finished.

Ready to print, instructions
It's time to install the show this weekend so I'm frantically wrapping things up. I set all of the pages I want to print out onto a single document to make it easier to print using the big printer in the design lab. I also spent time finishing the instructions poster so people will know what to do with the Wiimote. The program is also ready to go (at least good enough for the show - I could probably work on it for another semester and make it do some really cool things, but it does what I need it to do for the show).

finished process book
I finished my process book and just need to print it. Here's the cover and one of the inside pages:
I've still been doing a lot of research on habit. The most interesting thing I've found is learning about the fact that the majority of the definitions relate to clothing and not what I first thought of the word as. I haven't really made anything else since the definition book because I was putting a lot of my focus into the process book.

Spectral frequencies
I've been a little busy, working on folding the sound over and over. I accidentally discovered that now that all the sounds are interacting, you can isolate each frequency of the sound and they stand on their own as an experience.

New Exhibition Idea
An Installation:
A floor painting using perhaps a water soluble "children's" paint that can be applied and then scrubbed off after the show.
I would plan on painting in the outlines (shown in pink for diagram) using the "washable" paint. The color would be a gray/white wash to appear very subtle on the floor.
My drawings and other process work would then be suspended via string and eye hooks screwed into the wall. (ABOVE 8 FEET - PERHAPS 8' 6") - Grommets.
I took a inventory of everything I have. I feel that the work alone isn't strong enough to hold up a wall space. I think this idea will help emphasis my idea of space and circulation.
I want to get an this nailed down TODAY so that I can do prep next week.
(also chalk lines may be used on the floor under the string to bring the above circulation down to the floor )*

Ready to print upstate jam, started process book.
Upstate Jam ready to print.
A Quarter in Review. Scanned sketchbook pages, and downloaded all my blogposts. I'm working to find a way to organize all the information best to create a document that can be considered its own HPPH edition.

I got everything together in one document for my process book and started laying it all out... except for a cover it's mostly done. I also made a 4" x 4" document for a book of all the definitions of habit I've been looking at. I was planning on making another book illustrating or demonstrating each definition but the process book and habit definitions book took way longer then expected so I'll start working on that soon while I keep researching/thinking.

Coalescence
I sat inside sound for awhile in order to drown out the chaos of this week. This is finally starting to take the shape I want it to have. Also, I finally found a title I like.

Rigging
This is the first draft of a poetry book. My project has become about points and paths, so here I've taken rigging plans and printed them on vellum. I then folded the paper into an accordion-style book. Folding the pages abstracts the rigging, turning it into just points and paths. I then placed a found poem I made last semester onto the pages.

Upstate Jam Cover, Interior Detail
Upstate Jam will be a one sheet book. I designed the layout as if it were a book with pages that could also read as a poster. Unfolded it measures at 19'' x 26''. I'll get them printed at Staples for cheap as so I can make as many as possible. I'm also considering reprinting Avalanche Slides of the Adirondack High Peaks at full scale.

Routing the second Wiimote
I spent some time working on the Max patcher for the loop machine. I got the Wiimote to select the machines using the D-pad like I wanted to, but when I started using the volume and speed features, multiple machines were being affected. After looking around at the schematic, I realized that I had messed up a bit of the wiring. Once I sorted it out it worked perfectly. I made a second control set for the second Wiimote and began to map it to machines 5-8. It will consist of different controls since 5-8 are going to be samples instead of loops. I also spent some time organizing little parts of the patch, moving a few things and deleting unnecessary objects. I also made it so the master volume will automatically set itself as soon as the patch is opened.
